Inspiring Our Community

We are a community, not a club. Uplifting, uniting and inspiring our community drives our work, even more than footballing success.

Have a look at the various programmes we run in Hout Bay, and how we engage our fans.

We run a number of community programmes, primarily identified by the mentoring role taken on by our coaches & players.

HBUFC Values Camp

The HBUFC Values Camp takes place annually at The Dream Factory and is an opportunity for our coaches and trained professionals from all walks of life, to interact with our players in an attempt to instil in them the 7 key values we believe make up a successful player and a successful person.

Personal Development Pathway (PDP)

We believe a player has 6 key development attributes, linked like cogs, that each affect the other. Each of the attributes has an influence over development – 50% of the attributes are on field, 50% are off field.

The PDP process follows the following path:

  1. 1-on-1 profiling interviews to find out the player’s interests, skills and background.
  2. Counselling, where necessary, through our partnership with Community Cohesion.
  3. Work Readiness Training.
  4. Child safeguarding training and police clearance certificates.
  5. Regular community work (such as the HBAPD programme below).
  6. Placing the players into local businesses, to give them work and life experience for a career after football.

HBUFC aims to create strong, principled young leaders on a pathway to success, while uplifting an entire community.

Persons With Disabilities Programme

We have partnered with a HBAPD, Camphill Village, and Hout Bay School for LSEN. Our Elite Teams regularly take to the field for exercises, fun and games with our close friends from these amazing organisations.

Coaches into the community

HBUFC partners with 5 Government schools in Hout Bay to provide them with Physical Education coaches for free. We use our coaches who are from the various communities of Hout Bay and act as role models to the children at the schools that they coach.

Good Hope LFA

HBUFC compete in the U14, U16 and U18 Good Hope LFA leagues. This provides invaluable playing experience for our players, as well as an opportunity for our up and coming coaches to hone their skills.

Kickaround soccer

We host three social kick-around sessions per week. If you are interested in joining, please go to the contact us page and reach out. We’d love to have you join us!

HBUFC is built on community. These are some of the amazing stories from members within this community.
