We’ve loved sharing each of our monthly stories with you this year.
Thanks to Sam, Karien, Clint & Brent who have revelled in putting each month’s
edition together- 4 local volunteers, a small portion of our Rainbow Army of
supporters who help power our organisation in so many different ways near and far
every single day. You know who you all are. Thank you.

2023 Comes To An End

Each newsletter gives a snapshot of the community we serve and insight into the holistic vision of our organisation, which is of course to use football to bring our community together. To uplift our youth through mentorship and to bring pride through success.

The original vision for HBUFC was set out in a series of workshops between
Christmas & New Year back in 2014. We met several times across that week, early in the morning affording ourselves the time to thoroughly brainstorm our approach. It was a great starting point and we’ve stuck steadfastly to that vision ever since. 3rd October 2024 will mark our 10-year anniversary. A milestone for sure and if each of our 10 years is a chapter, none have been more exciting than the chapter we’ve just written.

In 2023 we realised our new Dream Factory and developed a brilliant partnership with EFL League One side Fleetwood Town FC that assists us with our Elite Team and Academy, provides pathway opportunities for our talent, and a route towards sustainability with commercial partnership opportunities. Off the field we’ve created more jobs, run more community programmes and helped more children with homework than ever before. On the field we won our first HPL title, we had our first International call up, we’ve moved 16 players into our new academy and we became the first football team to complete Table Mountain’s 13 peaks challenge.

We now find ourselves again in that period between Christmas and New Year. Meeting early in the morning. Planning. 10 years on and we’re still climbing the same mountain. Just a few steps further up. Our strength now is in our knowledge that for us the journey is the destination and we will never reach a summit. Our vision remains steadfastly the same. Unite our community. Uplift our youth. Inspire through success. And maybe one more – Keep on Climbing!
